Common Core Practice Standards Freebie

I'm thrilled to be on the math committe this year (I'm a huge math nerd!). This summer we had a math common core workshop for our faculty to explain the common core standards and how our teaching will change. Turns out, we don't have much to change. We've been using the Investigations math series for years and it pushes hard for students to be able to think about their own thinking, which is what I think the gist of common core really is.
While planning for this workshop the we decided to make "I Can" statements for the 8 Practice Standards for everyone to post in their classrooms and use as discussion points when wrapping-up lessons. I finally took a picture and uploaded them to share. Please don't laugh at the drawings!

  6. I am also on a math team in my district that is part of a Common Core partnership with a local university and 5 other area districts. I think this idea is awesome!. I'm thinking we could make something like this into a clip chart and pick maybe one or two to focus on each day. Thanks for the idea.
